AbstractBetter water management appears to be the major contributing factor to add to the inadequate water supplies for agriculture in Pakistan. watercourse improvement, as such, is an ideal component of a development program designed to ensure more water supplies at the farm-gate and hence increase crop production, because to its contribution to improve conveyance efficiency. This research has been conducted in order to evaluate different alternatives of watercourse improvement applied in the field to measure their effects on water supplies and crop production, it any. Both the economic and management aspects have been studied in each case with respect to the stratification of the watercourses by head, middle and tail, so that further decision making becomes easy in adopting the most appropriate method on national scale.
