AbstractAn experimental investigation was conducted to study the fatigue and impact strengths of construction joints in ferrocement boat hulls. The two types of joint materials used were: (1) epoxy and (2) expansive cement. The test results showed that the specimens using expansive cement joint material had better strength comparable to those specimens without joint, and exhibited relatively greater fatigue and impact resistance than epoxy joint. The fatigue failure on the epoxy jointed specimens appeared to be influenced by the joint itself, while the expansive cement joint made on the specimens indicated no significant contribution to such type of failure.
