AbstractThis study consists of a brief discussions regarding hydraulic characteristics of an aquifer, hydraulics of ground water, different aquifers, components of wells and different methods for determining different coefficients. The study was conducted mainly to collect available information in connection with the design and construction of shallow tubewells for irrigation purpose and how to utilize these evaluation results in further ground water development is discussed. After analysis of the hydrological condition of Bangladesh with the collected information from the study, it is found that the aquifer and water table is suitable for utilizing shallow tubewells for irrigation in a large part of Bangladesh.
