AbstractDurian is one of the popular fruits from Thailand. In recent years, the domestic and international durian consumers and durian’s price has increased that leads the price is unstable, and profit decrease. This illustrates the durian demand and supply tend to be inconsistent, and durian logistics cannot be sustainable. The identification of the current durian value chain mapping with assess the structure-conduct-performance of market (S-C-P) of value chain and the factors affecting farmers’ income is needed for design the good value chain. The durian value chain conceptual framework was used to analyze the current durian value chain mapping and determine the logistic and supply chain arrangement. The study was conducted in Tamai. The primary data collection was carried out in fourteen sub-districts of Chanthaburi. Questionnaire survey with sampled farmers, processor or enterprise, durian distribution center, and middlemen for gathering the information for durian value mapping and analysis of Market Structure Conduct-Performance(S-C-P) of durian value chain. Most durian farmers in Tamai are old and had several experiences. Middlemen can access the durian field for harvesting and negotiate the price after harvested, the enterprise can be both trader and processor, and the distribution center only selling to Chinese customer. Second, the durian value chain mapping show by the popular farmer trader channels are middlemen, distribution center, enterprise, wholesaler, and direct to customer support by government and Agri shop. Third, the structure of value chain is competitive market that many farmers have several choices for choosing the. Also, the conduct of value chain works by everyone negotiate for the best price. Furthermore, the performance of value chain showed the durian farmer has several profits because the selling price is good, and the cost is low. Last, the analyzing of durian farmer income has results explains the reason of durian benefits. Farmer age, education, experience, irrigation, price, and costs are the factors to success for profitable. To sum up, most farmers in Tamai who old are richer than younger farmer. The recommendation forms the research findingsshowed by the durian value chain actors who are farmers and middlemen had problems that did not had enough benefits should improving the farming methods, protecting threats for farmers and bargaining skill for middlemen. Thai government must support the funding source, forecast system, improving Thai durian market, and sustainable farming systems.
