Abstract | The problem of sequencing and scheduling of water resources projects of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) in Cebu, Philippines is being studied. It is assumed that the increase in demand can be supplied by the number of projects available for development within the time horizon considered. The use of dynamic programming to solve this particular type of problem proved to be an efficient tool. The shape of the demand curve, the discount rate and the capacities of the projects greatly affect the optimal schedule and timing of constructions. Results of the study were compared to the recommended schedule of development made by MCWD's consultants and revealed a different decision. |
