Abstract | This research is divided into two parts, the first part is concerned with the tractor manufacturers' survey and the second part with tractor testing, In the first part, all local manufacturers who produce four-wheeled tractors were surveyed. There were only 12 tractor manufacturers in 1979. These were classified into 3 groups depending on their production capacity. The overall production of the tractors in 1978 was about 4,300 units at the mean production rate of about 69.4%. The Central Plain of Thailand was the biggest market. General features of the manufacturers were almost the same in management and production system . . Selling period of the tractors was about 6 to 8 months a year. And the manufacturers were faced with the common problems on finance, marketing and production techniques, In the second part, a tractor was selected from one of the manufacturers for the drawbar testing according to O.E.C.D. and ASAE tractor test codes. The maximum drawbar horsepower. obtained at the low gear in the ballast condition was 7.9 kW. With maximum drawbar pull of 675 kg at 26. 8% wheel slip. Plowing test was carried out on the selected field but test results were not satisfactory due to the design of the plow. The tilt angle of the disks of the low was too large. |
