AbstractThis study covers the analysis of the existing system, system design, and a partial implementation of an interactive Funds Accounting System for the Accounts Administrative Section of the Asian Institute of Technology. The system study was jointly conducted with the staff of Administrative Data Processing Unit to gather information of the existing system to establish the necessary objectives and requirements for the system design. In view of the proposed migration of the current operating system (VM/370 - CMS) in the AIT-Regional Computer Center to MVS/TSO in the very near future and some other major considerations, a variation of the transaction processing approach was adopted, using PL/I as the host language, IBM 3277 Graphic Attachment Support for the alpha- screen management, and Virtual Storage Access Methods for the file organization. Special attention was given to the interface between the system and the users since most of them do not have any exposure to using computers. A menu plus form-filling technique was designed to suit the wide range of users. A partial implementation with emphasis on the menu plus form dialogue and the ledger posting module of the system design was effected. Assistance was also given to the personnel of the Administrative Data Processing Unit to implement the report generation module.
