Abstract | This thesis deals with interactive generation of curves and sur faces using the IBM 3277 Graphics Attachment . A curve is generated using Uniform Cubic B-Splines, a standard technique in computer aided design. To generate a surface , a modified lofting method is used . In this method sectional curves are represented by Uniform Cubic B-Spline curved, and the surface is interpolated between sections by Cubic Cardinal Splines. Although the surface generation is based on a standard lofting technique, new ways of inputting three dimensional data on a two dimensional screen interactively had to be designed to allow the user to generate and modify a surface easily. |
