Abstract | This research aimed to explore the awareness, perception, and adoption of farmer regarding organic rice production. Moreover, to identify the factors influencing the adoption of organic rice production, and the factors influencing the intensity of the organic rice production practices adoption by the smallholder rice farmers. The structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 240 farmers in Amnatcharoen province include 120 organic rice farmers and 120 non – organic rice farmers. Weighted Average Index was used to analyze the level of awareness, perception, and practices adoption of farmer regarding organic rice production. Two independent samples t-test was used to compare the different mean of awareness and perception of organic rice production between organic rice farmer and non – organic rice farmer. Binary Logit Regression was used to determine the factors influencing the adoption of farmer regarding organic rice production, and the Tobit Regression was used to examine the factors influencing the intensity of adoption of organic rice practices by the rice farmers. The result found that the farmer’s awareness on organic rice production was strong level. Moreover, the farmers’ awareness on organic rice production between the organic rice farmer and non – organic rice farmer particular the environmental, production process, and product safety aspect was the difference. In addition, the farmers’ perception of organic rice production was very strong level, and farmer’s perception on organic rice production between the organic rice farmer and non – organic rice farmer particular the environmental, production process, product safety aspect, usefulness, and sustainable aspect was the difference. The factors had positive influenced the farmers’ adoption of organic rice production were a gender of household head, an experience regarding rice farming, the farmer aware on their health, the other sources income, the financial supported by the government, the official communicate with farmer, the biofertilizer access through the cooperative shop, and the production cost. Meanwhile, the age of farmer had negative significant influenced the adoption of a farmer on organic rice production. Moreover, An experience regarding rice farming, the farmer aware on their health, the deposit in the bank of a farmer, official communication with the farmer, the bio-fertilizer access via the cooperative shop, the training attended, and the production cost had positive significant influenced the intensity of organic rice practices adoption. Meanwhile, the age of the household head had negative significant influenced the intensity of farmers’ adoption. |
