AbstractThis study is an attempt to develop an environmental evaluation system for environmental impacts of water resources projects in Thailand. Altogether, 50 environmental parameters were identified to be associated with environmental impacts of water resources projects in Thailand. These parameters were organized under 9 components which were further grouped under 3 categories. An opinion survey was carried out to determine the relative importance of the various parameters, components and categories. Value function graphs for the parameters were also established using results of the opinion survey . The methodology so developed was then applied to a major water resources project in Thailand . Problem areas in the case study were identified using the Battelle System of assigning 'red flags'. The study shows that the EES can be a useful quantitative impact assessment methodology for use in Thailand .
