AbstractThe objectives of this research were to formulate a deterministic as well as a stochastic goal programming model for a regional water quality management problem with multiple objectives of different priorities and show the application of the models to the Hsintien River in Taiwan. Result s from deterministic and stochastic goal programming models are also compared. Further, the possibility of formulating probabilistic goals and the possibility of using stochastic entities in formulating a goal have also been shown.
