AbstractThis thesis presents the results of the short-term and long-tests on bentonite-clay slurries and cement -clay grouts. The soil material which id collected from Khao Laem damsite is classified in the group of CH composed mainly clay particles. The test results show that Khao Laem Clay is not a good stabilizer. The bentonite slurry with concentration over 5 percent can make the suspension stable. It must be mentioned that the bleeding is the most undesirable in grouting. Because it remarkably influences the height and cement-water ration of the grouts. The filter press test is also carried out to determine the fluid loss and cake thickness of bentonite slurry subjected to filtration pressure of 100 psi for 30 minutes through a 9.0 cm Whatman No. 50 filter paper. The results show the bentonite slurry shall lose no more than 40 cc of fluid and form no more the 5 mm of filter cake. The results obtained from long-term tests show that factors such as the variation of c/w, a/B, S/W, B/W ration, and curing age have some effect on the strength, setting time and modulus of elasticity in grout. The strength development and setting time of all grouts are determined. But only the results obtained from the test of grout which produces bleeding water no more than 5 percent are presented and discussed.
