AbstractAn investigation was conducted of the factors influencing demand for Pioneer air transportation in Maluku Province. The history of air transportation, the condition of air transportation in Indonesia and the background of Pioneer air transportation are reviewed and presented. An algorithm model is used to forecast the passenger demand, based on six-year time series data. Multiple regression was used as the a logarithm model. Demand was found to be related to gross regional product and population. Forecasts were made and evaluated. Passenger growth rate in the period 1980-1985 have a range between 4 percent and 57 percent for upper prediction: while in the period 1986-1989, the rate ranges between 5 percent and 94 percent. For the lower prediction for the period 1980-1985, the passenger growth rate was in the range of 3 percent to 57 percent. For the period of 1986-1989, the lower prediction of passenger growth rate was between 15 percent and 74 percent. Finally recommendation for further studies are proposed.
