AbstractThis study is concerned with the production plan for a vegetable oil factory. One of the most important factors that must be considered in examining the production process of such a factory is the raw materials or seeds used in manufacture of the products. Only four kinds of seed are included in this study: cotton seed, kapok seed, rice bran and soya bean. And also four types of finished product are considered. The main problem for this type of manufacture is the availability of resources. How much to buy, how much to keep and how much to sell? Mixed Integer Programming is used in determining the monthly optimal production plan for a deterministic demand. The formulated mathematical model can also be used for a manufacture concerned with almost similar production process. It can be also used for the annual production plan but it will require much more computer time. Two models were formulated for this study, The initial formulated model assumes that the raw materials to be purchased and to be used are the same. The second model distinguish between the raw materials that are purchased and those that are used. To determine the effects of changes in the forecasted demand, availability of resources, initial inventory levels and per unit of revenue, sensitivity analysis was carried out.
