Abstract | A model study of Bang Pakong River was conducted to evaluate the Performance of proposed condenser water outlet and cooling water intake schemes for the Bang Pakong Thermal Power Plant Project. A distorted model having a horizontal scale of 1/200 and a vertical scale of 1/50 together with tide and heated water generating devices was built and operated. Temperature measurements were made under an extreme tide cycle which was generated from the field data of 21 March to 27 March 1979 by removing the upstream runoff through harmonic analysis, The results of the physical model study are presented in the form of contours of temperature rise, above the ambient, corresponding to various depths at and below the river surface. The results indicate that under extreme neap tide conditions no heated water recirculation is to be expected during the ebb, however, direct heat recirculation of 0 , 8 to 0.3°c is very probable during the flood. The worst direct· heat recirculation is observed at the slack stage by which the temperature rise at the intake may reach 3,2 at the surface and 1.7 Cat the bottom. However, these information were obtained from preliminary steady state testing program Further verification should be made using unsteady flow data. |
