AbstractA Linear Programming Dynamic Programming Model is developed to solve the expected firm energy improvement of an integrated reservoir system when a pumping storage scheme in added to upgrade its generation capability. The complex is the water resource system in the Greater Mae Klong Basin in Thailand composed of three reservoirs and a diversion dam farther downstream. Simulation studies conducted by the EGAT on this particular reservoir system are used as references for the general formulation and assumptions. Comparison of results between the LPDP model and these studies is also included. LPDP yielded additional information aside from the firm energy increase. Insight on the operating policy is made available upon the solution of the main prol5lem so that these additional knowledge are put into use by formulating operating rules. To verify the validity of these derived operating policy, a simulation program i s developed using the same record of inflows as those utilized in the LPDP procedure.
