Abstract | This study is concerned with the application of GERT (Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique) to production planning problems. Emphasis is placed on intermittent, non inventor able production process. A specific study is made for the case of a transformer manufacturing company. In the case study GERT is used to model the major steps of the production process (purchasing of raw materials, preparation of engineering drawings and the production itself), and to evaluate the equivalent parameters. GERT is then used in determining the potential demand of transformers, in the near future of Thailand and in projecting the firm's resources (men, buildings, production facilities) accordingly. It is apparent that GERT is quite adaptive to various situations and gives very good visualization effect inrepresenting the production process. |
