AbstractThe primary purpose of this study is to develop a model for evaluating economics of airline operations. Economics of airline operations in this study are signified in terms of traffic revenues and operation costs of airplanes. In the first part of the study, brief sun unary of commercial air transportation are presented. In the second part, the model is formulated. The formulation is based on actual operations of an airline. To increase flexibility of the model, many special features have been incorporated. These special features include two subroutines used in changing values of any input for the purpose of sensitivity analysis, and separate multipliers for each cost to simulate future economic situations when any cost rises. In the third part, to show the usefulness of the model, examples of model applications are demonstrated. The applications, besides giving values of various costs and revenues which can be used for accounting purpose, can also give viable solutions of airline operations under various circumstances.
