AbstractExperimental testing were carried out in order to investigate the vertical shear strength of joints in prefabricated load bearing walls. Test results indicated that the vertical shear strength of the joints depend on the number of shear keys, the cross sectional area of the shear keys, the strength of the joint concrete and the percentage of reinforcement. The experimental results were compared with existing recommendations in the design of vertical joints in prefabricated load bearing walls and in most cases, the results were higher than the recommended values. Finally, an expression to predict the vertical shear strength of joints in prefabricated loadbearing'. walls was proposed.
