AbstractThe progress characteristics of some construction projects in Thailand and Indonesia are observed, and interpreted by (1) t he total man-hours of productive labour each week, (2) the payments based on the stage of construction, and (3) the payments based on monthly work done. With percentage of cumulative time on the abscissa, and percentage of progress on the ordinate, all projects of the same method can be plotted on the same graph. The mean, the upper and the lower confidence intervals are taken. These intervals are then tested with another data set and compared with others' results. The comparison shows good agreement. In the third method, the progress characteristics are used to derive a progress control chart, which may be employed to control the progress of new construction projects of the same type. The Resources and Monetary Correlatives (RMC) characteristics and polynomial equations of the progress control chart, f or the convenience of mathematical representation, can be calculated from the progress characteristics.
