AbstractThe demonstration of various heat flux components of the surface heat flux of the upper ocean is of great interest, considering heated waste water disposal from factories, power plants etc., situated near the shore, in mind. In this context a detailed analysis has been done to visualize the actual heat exchange phenomenon at Ao Phai throughout the year, This study investigates the suitability and soundness of different existing formulae for computing the components of the heat balance equation. A number of empirical and fundamental formulae are studied to identify the appropriate set as capable of satisfactorily computing the heat balance components for the above mentioned site. In this study all the components of the heat balance equations were computed and appropriate set of formulae have been suggested. The amount of net heat storage for each month was calculated and found that there was heat loss throughout the year except in January and the maximum loss occurred in July.
