AbstractThe simulation technique was applied in the serially linked reservoirs system in the Ta Chia River Basin for proper reservoir operation. Most of the feasible operating criteria, including the existing one and those derived previously by other studies, are simulated. It is found that the release rules are the relevant factors in the operation of this reservoir system. The most feasible operation for this system is also suggested, with which the total annual energy will increase about 48 MKWH, as compared with the existing. In addition, the overall operation as considered higher priority for total downstream requirements is highly recommended, since it will reduce large downstream shortage with a little effect on power generation. Furthermore the capability of an additional power plant at Tien Lun dam is also suggested. At last, a di scission of the result from Discrete Differential Dynamic Programming analysis is made.
