Abstract | It is common practice in Coastal Engineering design to find out the solution of wave force on submerged breakwater. Many researcher have investigated analytically as well as experimentally for wave reflection and transmission, but not much information about wave force. Besides, none evaluated or discussed the relation between wave force and reflection coefficient. This thesis employs finite element method in computing wave force, Inertia coefficient, reflection coefficient, transmission coefficient, of object on the bottom with trapezoi dal, tri angle and rectangular shape, three of them are located either on the constant water depth or variable depth with sloping bottom, [n this procedure the fundamental equation and the variationally principle corresponding to them are introduced. In order to get the numerical process, the decaying behaviour of the local disturbance has been investigated and appropriate position is found, therefore, the fluid domain is truncated by· a radiation boundary taken at a finite distance. Results of wave force, Inertia coefficient, reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient for each kind of object indicated that the effect of increase in thickness of the object is al so increase in the maximum values of reflection coefficient and wave force and also there is a unique relation between reflection coefficient and wave force . Comparison between the result in constant water depth and variable depth indicates that the latter gives many peak values compare with the former. |
