AbstractThe built environment and socio-demographic factors significantly influence how individuals travel, including their capacity and propensity to use active transportation, for a significant number of people with disabilities. To decrease the difficulties that people with a disability experience. This study has two objectives: (1) to determine the relationship between socio demographic characteristics and individual travel behavior of disabilities, using the ordered logit regression model (2) to explore individuals with disabilities and what built environment factors are valued and to compare factors according to socio-demographic characteristics with the attitude of built environment factors, using exploratory factor analysis. This study specifically focuses on people with mobility disabilities, people with hearing impairments, and people with visual impairments living in Bangkok. Data was gathered through a survey. The result of the first objective is that the analysis revealed that the variables household income, the number of available vehicles in households, gender, number of household members, occupation, and disability type influenced individual travel behavior of disabilities of significance. Moreover, age, household income, number of available vehicles, gender, education, and disability type influenced the likelihood that people with disabilities will travel by utilizing public transportation. The result of the second objective identified three factors from the sample: (1) barrier-free sidewalk travel in the built environment, (2) barriers to access in the built environment, and (3) supporting safe travel in the built environment. In addition, the factors were compared according to the socio-demographic information, such as income level, disability type, and private car availability in households. To enable disabled individuals to participate as completely as feasible in society, we should therefore concentrate our efforts on fostering mobility and providing dependable transportation. People with disabilities will reside in areas with a higher quality of life if there are numerous transportation options available. In order for communities to develop in future generations, it is crucial that policymakers and planners are aware of this fact.
