AbstractLand subsidence causes serious problem to low lying areas of the Bangkok. Due to the major floods caused in 1983 and 2011, huge amount water pumping leads to the subsiding rates nearly I20mm year-I. Even though the water pumping is controlled now in Bangkok, there is a maximum deformation measured. In this Research study we apply interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) and time series analysis to know the rate of subsidence happened for the recent three years (2014-2017). We analyzed the results of produced classical pair wise interferograms and the velocity of time series. By analyzing the results of time series, we can be able to know the areas like roads, buildings, highways that are affected by the subsidence in these years. The result obtained is compared with the contour lines of subsidence map in 2002. The rate of subsidence happened in the year 2002 is 30mm/year in the low laying areas like Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon of Bangkok. At present Bangkok is uplifting with 27mm1year and the north Bangkok is increased in subsidence rate from 10mm/year to 22mm1year. This result explains that subsidence is increased comparing with past years and an unexpected change occurred in the Bangkok areas that are changing from subsidence to uplift.
