Abstract | Although the Global Positioning System (GPS) has the ability to locate and navigate users to the desired locations, it has become useless, when use in indoor conditions such as in a building, or underground due to the limitation of receiving the GPS signal from satellites. Thus, the current indoor technologies such as Bluetooth can solve this problem. Bluetooth is an effective alternative to indoor positioning technology due to Bluetooth is a low cost and high availability technology but the accuracy of data will depend on the quality of the device used. Therefore, it is necessary for the assessment accuracy of the Bluetooth device in order to receive the best results. This study will show the accuracy of the device, which consists of three main purposes; to investigate the accuracy assessment of the Blumo device in the different distance, to investigate the accuracy assessment of the Blumo device in a different environment, and to investigate in-room positioning and the accuracy assessment using Blumo devices. The data from field survey will be used to calculating to assess the accuracy and the precision. To validate the accuracy of Blumo device will use Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) values for convert to distance by using radio propagation model. The results will present by using statistics including calculation of average and standard deviation. The result of first purpose shown, after 5 meters of outdoor environment the signal will be unstable. For various indoor environment, the accuracy in each case are depends on the different condition and Badminton court gave the most performance for Bluetooth accuracy in term of distance. Location of devices as scattering throughout the experimental area provide the most accurate of the Bluetooth signal. |
