Abstract | The study analyzes two different substitution process: Technological Substitution and Capital-Labour Substitution. In the technological substitution process, a mathematical model is developed for the parameter called "delay coefficient" in the Generalized Technological Substitution Model using two different criteria. These are (i) Maximum Correlation Coefficient; and (ii) Minimizing the Error of Forecast. Both criteria are applied to few substitution cases and compared. From these analyses the best model for delay coefficient has been found and a procedure is given to find the delay coefficient for any substitution case. In the capital-labour substitution case, the basic concept of the process, capital intensity of technology and a discussion on all available models are done. In the study, endeavor has been made to explore, how one model varies from the other under different kinds of market structure and necessary assumptions. |
