Abstract | There has been presented a simple_ graphical and analytical procedure based on dynamic programming analysis to determine the optimum policy for irrigation of homogeneous lands under conditions of deficient water supply. This procedure provides the optimum decision for any area falls under the above condition. Single crop or very similar group of crops are to be grown because of the postulate of identical return functions. Where this is not the case, t he land t o be devoted to each crop may be considered as a separate problem. This technique can also be used to select the most economic crop among its group. The above achievement has been applied to a typical farm, situated in Meja Tahsil of Allahabad district of uttar Pradesh in India, which is irrigated by the Belan canal. The data of the same area has been c0rrected from different sources to get the best possible decision. Since the decision must be made in any event, the "accuracy" or probable error at these expected values due to various reasons beyond the control of farmer does not in any way decrease the validity of analysis . The error, whatever its magnitude, will be there under any decision process. |
