AbstractGetting Electricity Indicators (GEIs) is one of the 11 indicators which are used to assess the business environment in a economy, measured by Doing Business of World Bank. From the perspective of strategic planning for Vietnam Electricity (EVN), EVN needs to focus on the goal of improving the quality of customer service in order to enhace its competitiveness especially when the electricity market activities are active at the stage of distribution, EVN will not be a monopoly of power supply in the near future. Customers will have more choice and competition will force EVN to provide electricity with high quality and better services. Improved GEI will enhance the quality of customer service, implying higher national competitiveness to fulfill political tasks assigned by the Government. According to latest report recently published on October 15, 2016 by Doing Business 2017, Vietnam economy ranking 82/190, including GEIs increased to 96/190 (2016). EVN has not stopped putting more efforts for positive changes. However, that was not a satisfactory rating. The paper will analyze the current status of electricity accessment in Vietnam throughout the years. In addition, lessons learned from the experiences of the regional countries will be provided to propose coordinated solutions to improve GEIs.
