AbstractFinite element techniques are applied to study vibration problems on annular and annular segmental thick plates. An annular sector element with four nodes and twenty-eight degrees of freedom is considered in the analysis. Laminate properties and transverse shear effect are included in the el ement stiffness formulation. Thus the elements can be used for the analysis of moderately thick laminated or sandwich plates. Numerical results of fundamental frequency are tabulated for a single layered annular plate, simply supported at the outer edge with different thickness ratios and outer radii. A comparison of the results is made with the exact solution for a thin plate, A curved concrete box-girder bridge is also analyzed as a sandwich plate.
