Abstract | A multivariate stochastic rainfall data simulator designed to generate yearly, seasonal, monthly, and daily rainfall data using the disaggregation approach is presented. The model uses the Matalas' algorithm for generating the yearly values. The yearly values are disaggregated into seasonal amounts, the seasonal amounts into monthly data, and finally, the monthly data into daily depths. Transition probability matrices and linear regression techniques are used in synthesizing the daily rainfall series. The data generated by the multivariate rainfall simulator agree satisfactorily with the historical data. |
