AbstractIn this study, a three dimensional stress analysis of the anchorage zone of prestressed concrete box-girder is carried out by finite prism method. The effect of the friction forces due to the inclination of the cable on the stresses at the anchorage zone which has not been considered in any previous studied is incorporated. The results are compared with the methods of Gergeley, Iyengar, Guyon, Bleich, and Sievers. The comparison showed that, Sievers' method gave the highest deviation while Guyon's method method gave the closest approximate results compared with the present study. The point of maximum transverse stress shifted from the end girder to the midspan direction when the tendons were increased. Although the effect of the friction force on the transverse tensile stress at the anchorage zone is small, it increases the tensile stresses and more study is necessary along these lines.
