AbstractFatigue strength of infilled frames with two different types of infill materials, viz. rice hull ash block and ordinary cl ay brick were studied experimentally and comparative study was made. The results show that the fatigue strength of infilled frame is dependent on the properties of the infill materials. Between those two materials used, rice hull ash block as the infill materials give greater fatigue strength than the infilled frame with clay bricks. An economic study for the production of rice hull ash blocks was conducted. The results show that the cost of these blocks is cheaper than that of ordinary clay bricks in Indonesia, and in Thailand, the cost of rice hull ash wall persquaremeter is cheaper than that of ordinary clay brick wall.
