AbstractThe study is an attempt to evaluate hydrological conditions throughout the Labuk Valley as a guide to the availability of water in planning rural community resettlement and development. Areal and seasonal variation of precipitation are assessed from long-term records in the vicinity of the valley; potential evapotranspiration from climatological record. Runoff is estimated in respect to mean flow, seasonal variation and flood discharge at several points on the main stem and on one of the tributaries. Irrigation demands for rice and other crops are stated along with a preliminary estimate of the hydro-electric potential of the basin.
