AbstractThis is an investigative research on the "Low-Income Housing Delivery system in Dacca, Bangladesh". The study was aimed at uncovering the various ways of acquiring housing by the low-income people in Dacca. Socio economic and physical characteristics of each different types of housing and settlements was critically analyzed. Attempt was made to identify the possible situations where improvement in housing condition and provision of basic amenities and services could be achieved through proper utilization of limited resources of a developing country like Bangladesh. Field survey was conducted to identify these situations on the spot rather than trying to find in literature. Government awareness and level of contribution was analyzed to estimate the backlog and for realization of the depth of the housing problem of low-income group. And finally, the attempt of uncovering the "Low-Income Housing Delivery System" is anticipated to open avenues for others to do further research and study to make more contribution in this field.
