AbstractThis study describes the land tenure changes in Sri Lanka agricultural development giving an account of the historical background dated back to the beginning of British Era and its influence on the country' s land tenure. It focuses mainly on the reform measures undertaken and settlement projects implemented after World War II and their effects on the tenure situation during the past thirty years. Traditional Land tenure systems in Sri Lanka are also presented. An analysis of the impact of land tenure changes and production structure is given followed by conclusions and recommendations for future research.
