AbstractThe study is conducted to an existing petroleum refinery in Sriracha , Thailand. The refinery waste generation, collection and treatment system were studied and evaluated. The final effluent dat a discharged to t he waters ink (sea) was found to meet the standards set by the Ministry of Industry, except the limit of oil. Based on the study, no additional waste treatment was found necessary except it is felt that the Ministry of Industry which set s a zero level of oil should reconsider settling a better level. Wastewater volume reduction is the first step in minimizing the treatment facility. The volume of saline cooling water from the desalination plant could be reduced and could be by passed to the outlet of t he impounding basin. This study al so showed that the retention time in impounding basin pond could be increased resulting t o better effluent quality. A number of other recommendation based on the study are also made which will result in better management and control of t he wastewater at Sriracha Refinery.
