AbstractA 3-point linkage dynamometer for measuring the forces between a tractor and 3-point linkage mounted implements was developed. Two simply sup ported beam transducers were designed as sensing elements for measuring the forces in draft arms to read both horizontal and vertical components. A cantilever leaf spring transducer was designed for measuring compression and tension draft in the top link. The transducers were attached to the frame, mounted between the tractor and 3-point linkage mounted implement which. could be adjusted in both horizontal and vertical planes. In the calibration tests, the lower link dynamometers gave good linearity with small hysteresis effect while the top link dynamometer gave excellent senility. The dynamometer was designed to link up with any 3-point linkage mounted implement of category I and category II dimensions without interfering with the use of P.T.O. shaft. However, if the dynamometer is to be used for hitch-mounted implements which are not standard, it can be modified easily.
