| Abstract | Urbanization and industrialization are factors of transition from developing to developed countries. The Thai government has established a 20-year strategy to attain high-income status by 2036. The pilot areas are called the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), which covers three provinces: Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong. Remote sensing knowledge can be used to consider urbanization and industrialization in the EEC area. Daytime data can observe the characteristics of the earth's surface, and nighttime data can keep the light intensity at nighttime. This study aims to combine daytime and nighttime datafor. monitoring and simulating urban economic development to understand economic and social development for supporting urban planning and infrastructure placement. Daytime data is used as the reference for nighttime data and to forecast land use land cover for 2030,2040, and 2050 using the Markov model. The Markov analysis shows that the agricultural area tends to turn to the urban area while another will lightly decrease. Moreover, nighttime data is examined and correlated with daytime data by using sampling points. The result of the cross-tabulation correlation shows that nighttime data might strictly refer to each urban land use type, but it shows where the economic activities happen. |
