| Abstract | A partially saturated zone of a porous medium is usually found to exist above a water table, The purpose of this thesis is to present a theoretical solution showing how the partially saturated flow above the water table will affect the prediction of the free surface profile and normal depth for the flow. through two porous media above an inclined impervious boundary. An experimental study was conducted to verify the theoretical solution. The results of this study gave good agreement between the theoretical solution and experimental data and indicated that the flow in the zone above the water table cannot be neglected in the case of this investigation. |
