| Abstract | Contract Administration plays an essential and important part to implement the construction projects successfully. This road construction project is carried out with framework including four phases which is contract planning, contract execution, contract administration and contract close out. A systematic managed contract can control the projects without delay or cost over-run within specified period. These days, Department of Highway (DOH) under Ministry of Construction (MOC) has been improving numerous street and extension development projects with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) supported Official Development Assistance (ODA) credit for neediness decrease in Myanmar. JICA used the international practices in Contract Administration when the construction projects funded ODA loan is cooperated with Ministry of Construction (MOC). In this report, it is studied the importance of contract management in practice and how contract administration is managed in JICA-ODA project. When the project is implemented with the international contract administration, the strength and weakness of local construction companies in Myanmar is learnt in contract management activities. These contract activities involve mainly communication, cost control, time management and quality control. An effective and practical recommendation will be made for improvement of contract administration by studying these strength and weakness. In addition to, each participant involved in the project need to understand certainly and be acquainted with the agreement record. The application of a systematic contract administration framework can lead to the project completion without difficulties and delays. Therefore, a contract management is needed to implement a project successfully within specified schedule, the limited budget and to meet with standard specification. |
