AbstractIn Myanmar, the World Bank officially develops loans (ODA) for Flood and Landslide Emergency Recovery Project (FLERC) in four regions and three states (that are Ayeyarwady Region, Bago Region, Sagaing Region, Yangon Region, Rakhine State, Chin State and Shan State. The five-year plan provided over $ 70 million in financial support for the restoration project. It covers roads and bridges destroyed by torrential rains in 2015. The development goal of the project is primarily to support the recovery of the affected areas and to provide a quick and effective response in the event of a crisis or disaster. The project was built by a local construction contractor and evaluated with the help of CSBQ through official announcements on the official website and newspapers. The project used a FIDIC construction contract with GC and PC between DRRD and a local contractor. Contract management and project management play a vital role in the accomplishment of the FLERC project. The purpose of this report was to review the practice of contract management in the FLERC project, analyze the pros and cons and make recommendations for the future improvement of the international finance project. On this project, the DRRD team and local contractors had the opportunity to learn a lot from the experience of this project with international construction contracts. FIDIC, an international bid management practice, must also be learned and applied to the construction industry to establish long-term relationships, ensure equitable risk sharing and meet contractual requirements.
