| Abstract | Being a developing nation, Myanmar has made gradual progress in its industrial, manufacturing, and construction sectors. To support future economic growth and development, the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) scheme has emerged as a popular method for infrastructure development in Myanmar. This presents various opportunities for foreign investors. However, it is essential to acknowledge and address the dangers and difficulties brought on by disparities in legal systems, economic realities, and cultural norms. The main risks connected with participating in Myanmar's BOT infrastructure projects must be appropriately evaluated and managed by foreign investors. Regarding the surveys conducted, several significant issues have been identified. These include delays in project approval, changes in legislation, cost overruns, communication limitations, land acquisition and compensation, enforceability of contracts, adherence to construction schedules, financial closure, tariff adjustments, and environmental risks. Each of these concerns must be carefully addressed and mitigated. In conclusion, this paper aims to examine various issues related to Build-Operate-Transfer projects in Myanmar. It underscores the importance of establishing a robust framework for project oversight and management. The primary objective is to analyze and address the diverse challenges associated with BOT projects in Myanmar. |
