AbstractA functional relationship was developed empirically to relate significant dimensionless parameter affecting the scour depth below flip bucket of the spillway. The obtained functional relationship obtained from the experimental result described the scour depth as function of discharge from the flip bucket; tail water depth, and size of bed material. The functional relationship was then applied to determine the necessary size of the revetment material to reinforce the river bed at a specified scour depth for the proposed spillway of Pattani Dam located in the southern part of Thailand. The Froude number criteria was used to obtain the dynamic similarity between the model and prototype.
